ITC Project

New Zealand

New Zealand is a country with leading-edge tobacco control policies, including graphic warning labels. New Zealand signed the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) on June 16, 2003, and later ratified the treaty on January 27, 2004. In 2007, ITC launched the New Zealand (NZ) Wave 1 Survey, followed by the Wave 2 survey in 2008-2009. In 2015, thanks to new funding from the Health Research Council of New Zealand, the ITC Project is excited to initiate a new arm of the ITC New Zealand Project (NZL), which will consist of 2 waves over 3 years and survey a cohort of smokers and recent quitters.
